If your dog keeps ditching their bed for the bathroom tiles, they're telling you something.

Dogs don't sweat the way we do — they pant, and they press themselves against the coolest surface they can find. Hard floors are the only tool they've got. The IceLayer 2.0 gives them a better one: a soft, cool-to-touch surface that pulls heat away on contact, so they can settle in one place and actually stay asleep.

Why won't they use the mat you already bought?

Most cooling mats fail for the same three reasons. Gel mats go stiff and plasticky, and a dog's body heat overwhelms them in about ten minutes. Water mats leak, and eventually they smell. And almost none of them can go in a washing machine — which matters more than you'd think, because a mat your dog won't lie on is usually a mat that stopped being clean.

The IceLayer 2.0 has no gel and no water in it. The cooling comes from the fabric itself: a Chill-Cool fibre weave rated Q-Max above 0.4, which conducts heat away from your dog's body faster than cotton, canvas, or a tile floor. When it warms up, they shift a few inches and it's cool again. When it's dirty, it goes in the wash.

See how it works
  • Cool on contact, no prep

No freezer, no water, no power. Unroll it and it's ready. Works on the floor, in a crate, on the sofa, or in the back of the car.

  • Two sides, two seasons

Cool Chill-Cool weave on one face, soft brushed plush on the other. Flip it in October and it's a regular mat.

  • Nothing inside to chew

No gel packs, no liquid, no filling. If your dog is a chewer, this is the only cooling mat worth buying.

  • Actually washable

Machine wash gentle, air dry. Cooling performance holds through wash cycles — most gel mats can only be wiped with a damp cloth.

IceLayer 2.0™ vs Ordinary Cooling Mats

Cooling mats mostly split into two camps — gel and water. Both have real problems, and both are what your dog is refusing to lie on. Here's the difference.

  Basic Mats

Cool to the touch with no prep

Machine washable

No gel or liquid to puncture

Won't leak, mould, or smell

Soft enough for a full night's sleep

Reversible for cold months

FAQ's

Why does my dog keep sleeping on the floor instead of their bed?

Because the floor is doing a job their bed can't. Dogs shed most of their heat by panting and by pressing their belly and paws against something cooler than they are — tile, hardwood, the spot by the back door. A padded bed traps heat instead of pulling it away, so on warm days they abandon it.

The IceLayer 2.0 is built to be the cool surface they're already looking for, with enough softness that they'll actually stay asleep on it.

How does it cool with no gel, water, or electricity?

Through the fabric itself. The top face is a Chill-Cool fibre weave rated Q-Max above 0.4 — that's the standard measure of how quickly a material draws heat from skin on contact, and anything above 0.4 registers as noticeably cool to the touch.

There's nothing to freeze, fill, plug in, or recharge. Unroll it and it works. It performs best indoors or in shade with air moving over it, so a room with a fan or AC running gets the most out of it.

Will my dog actually use it? Ours ignored the last one.

That's the most common reason people buy a second cooling mat, and it's usually a texture problem rather than a cooling problem. Gel mats feel stiff and plasticky underfoot, so dogs step on, decide it's unpleasant, and never come back.

This is fabric over padding, so it feels closer to a bed than a plastic sheet. Most dogs settle on it within a day or two. If yours won't touch it after two weeks, that's exactly what the 90-night trial covers.

Which size should I get?

Measure your dog nose to base of tail while they're lying stretched out, then add four to six inches. Dogs sprawl when they're hot — a mat they hang off the edge of gets used half as much.

If they sleep in a crate, measure the crate floor instead and size down to fit inside it. When you're between two sizes, go up.

How do I clean it?

Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water, then air dry or tumble dry on low. No special detergent needed, and the cooling performance holds through repeated washes.

This is a real difference from gel mats, which can only be wiped down with a damp cloth. For anything a dog sleeps on through summer, that matters more than it sounds.

  • ★★★★★

He finally stopped sleeping on the bathroom floor.

My dog usually leaves his bed after a few minutes and stretches out on the tile, but he stayed on the IceLayer mat through the whole afternoon. It feels cool without being wet or stiff, and he seems much more comfortable on hot days.

Soft, cool, and easy to wash.

We had tried a gel mat before, but our dog did not like the plastic feel. This one is soft enough for her to nap on, stays noticeably cooler than her regular bed, and went through the washing machine without any trouble.

A huge help with the constant panting.

Our senior dog struggles to settle down when the house gets warm. Since putting this mat in his favorite spot, he lies down faster and does not keep moving between the floor and his bed. It has become his go-to place for afternoon naps.
